SHIPPING INFORMATION

HOW SHIPPING IS CALCULATED

Shipping charges are calculated using a flat-rate system. Checkout includes a base shipping charge for the first item and a set additional amount for each additional item in the order.

Most McDugal’s WoodWorks orders contain one to three items, and this system generally keeps the amount charged reasonably close to the actual cost of packaging and mailing the order.

The shipping amount shown at checkout is an estimate rather than a live carrier quote. Actual postage may occasionally be slightly higher or lower than the amount collected. McDugal’s WoodWorks will not normally request an additional payment or issue a partial refund solely because the final postage differs slightly from the amount charged at checkout.

Adding a live-rate shipping system would cost considerably more than the small differences it would correct. The goal is to keep shipping fair and reasonably accurate without spending a small fortune to save someone 38 cents.

SHIPPING METHOD

Orders are generally shipped through the United States Postal Service.

McDugal’s WoodWorks will select the most appropriate USPS service based on the package size, weight, destination, value, available services, and the shipping amount collected at checkout.

When the amount paid reasonably covers Priority Mail or another upgraded service, I will generally use the upgraded option. When it does not, the order will usually be shipped using USPS Ground Advantage or another suitable USPS service.

For example, if Priority Mail is reasonably covered by the shipping charge, I may use Priority Mail. If Ground Advantage costs $9.83 and Priority Mail costs $12.75 but the customer paid $10 for shipping, Ground Advantage will be used.

Payment of a shipping charge does not guarantee a particular USPS mail class, delivery speed, or delivery date unless a specific arrangement has been agreed to in writing before the order is placed.

Tracking information will be provided when available.

LARGE ORDERS

If you are planning to purchase a larger number of items and would prefer an exact shipping quote, please contact McDugal’s WoodWorks through the Contact Us page before placing the order.

Please include the items or quantities you are considering and the ZIP code where the order will be shipped. I will calculate the estimated actual shipping cost and, where practical, arrange a custom order, coupon, or invoice.

Orders placed through the regular checkout without requesting a custom quote will use the standard flat-rate shipping calculation.

PROCESSING TIME

In-stock orders will normally be packaged and transferred to USPS within three business days whenever reasonably possible. Business days do not include weekends or federal holidays.

Custom or commissioned items are subject to the production and shipping timeline agreed upon for that order.

If I expect an in-stock order to take longer than three business days to ship, I will contact the customer with an updated estimated shipping date and available options.

Processing time refers only to the time before the package is transferred to USPS. It does not include the time USPS takes to transport and deliver the package.

DELIVERY TIMES AND CARRIER DELAYS

Delivery dates and transit times displayed by USPS, WooCommerce, tracking services, or other shipping tools are estimates unless the customer has purchased a service that expressly includes a delivery guarantee.

Once a package has been accepted by USPS, transportation and delivery are outside the direct control of McDugal’s WoodWorks. Weather, holidays, staffing issues, transportation disruptions, remote destinations, and other carrier problems may cause delays.

Put less formally, I will do my best to get your order into the mail within three business days. I cannot guarantee that USPS will not spend the following twelve days trying to locate your cabin at the end of a two-track that has become more of a vague suggestion through a swamp in the Upper Peninsula.

McDugal’s WoodWorks is not responsible for ordinary USPS delays after a package has been accepted by the carrier. However, if tracking stops updating or a package appears to be lost, please contact me. I will make a reasonable effort to help investigate the shipment and work with USPS toward an appropriate resolution.

SHIPPING ADDRESSES

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.

If you discover an address error, please contact McDugal’s WoodWorks immediately. An address usually cannot be changed after the package has been shipped.

If an order is returned, delayed, misdelivered, or lost because of an inaccurate or incomplete address supplied during checkout, the customer may be responsible for any additional postage required to send the order again.

If a customer asks USPS or another carrier to forward, redirect, hold, or otherwise alter delivery after shipment, McDugal’s WoodWorks cannot guarantee the result of that request.

LOST OR DAMAGED PACKAGES

If tracking shows an unusual delay, a package appears to be lost, or an item arrives damaged, please contact McDugal’s WoodWorks promptly.

For damaged shipments, keep the item, shipping box, packaging materials, and shipping label. Clear photographs may be required to document the damage and assist with a carrier or insurance claim.

Do not discard the item or packaging until the issue has been reviewed.

Shipping damage and incorrect orders will be handled according to the Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Orders section of this policy. Because many McDugal’s WoodWorks items are one of a kind, an identical replacement may not always be available.
